Community - Breakfast Club
The breakfast club provides students with the option of enjoying vegemite, cream cheese or butter on toast, eggs on toast, fruit and a drink of milk or milo. Students and volunteers help with setting up, the dishes and cleaning up so everyone is included.
While we know that children function better when they have had a meal, providing energy for their day. The breakfast club also provides an opportunity for students to be involved, improve their socialisation skills and create a wider friendship base.
The Breakfast club was started in 2000 when Vivian Ferguson, Freda Baker, Kay McArthur and Isobel Van Renburg, from the Pinjarra Family Church saw a need in the school and wanted to help.
Kay and Isobel are still dedicated to running Breakfast Club, and in 2009 Paul Staer came on board, followed by Ali McNeil and Amalie McDonnell, and of course Chappo. In 2014 the Helping Hands team became rostered on to help each week.
